As successful as I am today, it hasn’t always been an easy road. But through all the ups and downs, I kept one thing in mind: If you want to bring real change to your life, it must begin with you. That was a hard lesson for me to learn once I moved from my native Country Cameroon to study in Canada and the United States. Adjusting to a new life in a different country meant that I had to stop placing the blame on my surroundings and stayed focused on achieving my dreams. What kept me laser-focused on my journey were what I call “The Five Essential Ps”: purpose, passion, patience, perseverance, and persistence.”
Dr . Eunice Gwanmesia is an entrepreneur, educator, and registered nurse who has dedicated her life to teaching and mentoring. When she was a little girl in her birthplace of Cameroon, watching her father touch the lives of his students as a teacher left a lasting impression on her and inspired her to do the same.
Eunice first left Cameroon to pursue a degree at the National School of Dental Therapy in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada. After graduating, she practiced dental therapy on children in native villages in the Northwest Territories of Canada for one year. She later relocated again to the United States to pursue a degree in Nursing. After obtaining her Bachelor’s in Nursing, she was hungry for more and went on to earn a dual Master’s degree in Nursing and Healthcare Administration at Wilmington University in Newark, Delaware. She ultimately obtained a Ph.D. in Nursing.
One of her most successful mentoring projects was starting a Certied Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at Always Care Health Services, Inc. with her personal funds. During the five years of its operation before the economic downturn that caused its demise , 230 students graduated from Eunice’s CNA program, many of whom are now professional nurses. She is also a member of several organizations, including the National League of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International, and the National Black Nurses Association.
Dr. Gwanmesia has spoken at several conferences and delivered keynote speeches in front of large audiences . She is available to deliver presentations and trainings at conferences, schools, churches, and hospital organizations.
